Rubrics Made Easy: Using the Canvas Rubric Builder

Angela Westmoreland, M.Ed.
50-minute Build Lab

Build one better thing.

Our goal is not to learn more Canvas. It is to build something you will actually use.

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  1. Construct a Canvas rubric with at least two criteria and two ratings per criterion.
  2. Configure points, ranges, scales, comments, and available rubric settings.
  3. Attach a rubric to an assignment and locate the workflow for a graded discussion.
  4. Complete and revise a rubric assessment in SpeedGrader.
  5. Preview student visibility and self-assessment when enabled.
  6. Test and document one complete rubric workflow.

Workshop through-line: Construct → Configure → Connect → Preview → Grade → Verify
